![]() ![]() Clemmons came on board the project by writing a script with dialogue that was later storyboarded by other writers.Īs production went further along, Robin Allan stated in his book Walt Disney and Europe that "Ken Anderson wept when he saw how his character concepts had been processed into stereotypes for the animation on Robin Hood." According to Frank Thomas and Ollie Johnston, one such casualty was the concept of making the Sheriff of Nottingham a goat as an artistic experiment to try different animals for a villain, only to be overruled by Reitherman who wanted to keep to the villainous stereotype of a wolf instead. However, the executives were wary of the reputation of Song of the South, which was followed by Reitherman's decision to set the film in its traditional English location as inspired by The Story of Robin Hood and His Merrie Men (1952). Additionally, Anderson wanted to set the film in the Deep South desiring to recapture the spirit of Song of the South (1946). Anderson blended his ideas of Robin Hood by incorporating that the fox character could be slick but still use his skills to protect the community. In a follow-up meeting, with Wolfgang Reitherman, Bill Anderson (no relation), and Larry Clemmons, Ken Anderson was assigned the job to begin "exploratory animal character drawings". Back at the studio, Anderson relayed the idea during a story meeting on The Aristocats which was met with approval. Anderson proposed the tale of Robin Hood, to which Walker responded enthusiastically. In October 1968, during a fishing trip with Ken Anderson, studio executive Card Walker suggested that a "classic" tale should be the subject for the next animated film after The Aristocats (1970). In the next decade, the studio decided to make Reynard the villain of a musical feature film based on Edmond Rostand's Chanticleer, but the production was scrapped in favor of The Sword in the Stone (1963). Ultimately, the idea was nixed as Treasure Island became the studio's first fully live-action film. We'll take a nosedive doing it with animals." For Treasure Island (1950), Disney seriously considered three animated sections, each one of the Reynard tales, to be told by Long John Silver to Jim Hawkins as moral fables. In a meeting held on February 12, 1938, Disney commented: "I see swell possibilities in 'Reynard', but is it smart to make it? We have such a terrific kid audience. However, the project languished due to Disney's concern that Reynard was an unsuitable choice for a hero. The story was based on the legends of Robin Hood and Reynard the Fox, a 12th-century Alsatian fairy tale character, but uses anthropomorphic animals rather than people.Īround the time of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, Walt Disney became interested in adapting the twelfth-century legend of Reynard the Fox. Directed by Wolfgang Reitherman, it is the 21st Disney animated feature film and the first entirely "post-Walt" animated feature. Robin Hood is an animated movie produced by Walt Disney Productions and released by Buena Vista Distribution in 1973. ![]()

Once it’s a part of your workflow, you’ll soon be exporting all your jpegs in this way. This edition lets you export images directly from Lightroom with their patent-pending compression. The Pro version includes the basic app and an Adobe Lightroom plug-in. Quite easy to use and only costs $19.99, making it the cheapest way to compress the jpeg library efficiently on your computer. ![]() You can select an output folder or let this JPEGmini application replace your original file after compression. This is an application for both Mac (OS X 10.6.8 or higher) and PC (Windows XP SP3, Vista, 7 or 8) which uses a simple drag-and-drop interface. The compression works in the same way as the paid version but is only useful for a couple of images, as uploading large sizes will take a lot of time. You can upload your images on a file-by-file basis to their website and have them automatically apply their algorithms. There are currently four different ways of using this picture compression software, ranging from a free online version of a premium server application. How much compression is possible depends on the quality (size) of the original JPEG? An image of 8MP and higher will get a 50-80% reduction while a small 1MP image will only get squashed 30-50%. ![]() Secondly, the JPEG encoder goes to work that adapts the encoding process to the original photos, creating the most compact representation of the pictures that is possible under the JPEG standard.Firstly the software scans your image like the human visual system would and determines what amount of compression is possible for that particular photo without causing visible artefacts.Good think about JPEGmini is that it’s specially designed for compressing images. As we all know there is a lot of information stored in digital files, most of which is redundant in the final image. Image compression software like this has always made sense to me, especially for online sharing. Or even when printed at 200 DPI on photo paper. Their tests have shown that the original JPEG photo and the recompressed JPEGmini photo cannot be distinguished by average users when displayed at 100% zoom on a computer monitor. The JPEGmini algorithm imitates how the human eye and brain work together, so each picture is compressed to the maximum extent possible by removing redundancies, without creating any visual artifacts in the process. The technology works at the JPEG baseline, so files are fully compatible with any browser, photo software or device that support the JPEG format. Per example, 300 dpi will stay 300 dpi and dimensions will remain unchanged. It preserves the resolution and quality of the original photos. JPEGmini is an image optimisation technology that reduces the file size of JPEG photos by up to 5 times. ![]() ![]() If you want an app to remain in the Dock, right-click, highlight Options, and click Keep in Dock.Drag and drop the app into your preferred location on the Dock.Locate the app that you want to add to the Dock. Here’s how you can add apps to the dock and keep them there: This ensures that only the apps that you use most frequently appear when all of the rest of your apps are closed. Add and Remove Apps From the DockĪnother basic feature when it comes to customizing the Dock is adding or removing apps. This ensures that the icons will actually magnify when the cursor hovers over them in the Dock. When using Magnification on the Dock, you’ll want to try and make sure that the slider is higher than that of the “Size”. Click the checkbox next to Magnification.By doing so, you can lower the size of the dock, but still are able to click and open the right apps when you need them. One nice touch when it comes to the macOS Dock is that you can have the applications magnified whenever hovering your cursor over them. This is why many macOS users opt to use the dock in the two places other than the bottom, so you can see more of the page. Moving the Dock to the left or the right means you have to sacrifice a bit of screen real estate in the width department, but it will extend the pages that you view vertically. Next to Position on screen: select one of the following:.Open the System Preferences app on your Mac.You can also head into System Preferences to change the position of the dock: Highlight Position on screen with your cursor.Right-click on the divider between your apps and downloads. Those days are finally gone, as you can change the position of the Dock right from System Preferences. Change Position of the Dockįor years, macOS users needed to rely on Terminal commands to move where the dock was actually placed. Once the checkbox is clicked, that extra section in the Dock will disappear, leaving you only with the apps that you want, the Downloads folder, and the Trash Bin. Click the checkbox next to Show recent applications in Dock. ![]() Thankfully, you can easily remove that section entirely: This means that there is an additional section that houses applications that you recently opened. One of my biggest complaints comes in that Apple wants to treat your Mac Dock like the one found on the iPad. The first step that we take after going through the initial setup process is to essentially de-clutter the Dock. ![]() ![]() ![]() The problem with technology is that it is an arms race between the attackers and the defenders, and the race is asymmetric. This can sometimes be counterproductive.įor example, asking customers to create too many passwords or security codes often results in them being overwhelmed and choosing simple ones which are easy to hack - the most common passwords in the world are “password” and “1234” for a reason. The downside is that automated bank protection measures may end up making things more frustrating for bank customers, who will be subject to more friction. Third, both banks and customers could make use of automated fraud detection tools.įor example, GovTech’s Open Government Products team has created an app called ScamShield for the public that is supposed to help block suspicious calls and messages.īanks also usually have their own internal fraud detection tools - for example, automatic freezing of an account that has a certain number of suspicious transactions within a defined time period. Utilising government digital infrastructure may also be more secure, because if each bank sets up its own repository of biometric data to facilitate biometric access, that opens the banks up to all sorts of data privacy complications and further possible cyber attacks. This would ensure that scammers cannot break into a bank account by guessing a password or getting the victim to give them an OTP. In fact, it may make sense for all banks to integrate with SingPass, such that transactions can only be authorised using an official government-verified digital identity. OCBC has since July 2020 already had the option for users to log in to its digital banking services using SingPass. ![]() SingPass, the Government’s secure online identity system, allows users to log in using facial recognition. For example, biometric verification of the account holder’s identity when executing transactions, such as facial or fingerprint verification. Secondly, more secure identity verification measures could be put in place. This is more secure as then the scammers would not be able to use the telephone number spoofing method anymore, since the apps are internet-based and not telephone-based. Use authenticator apps instead, like Microsoft and Google do. ![]() There are two broad categories of measures that we can take to help people avoid falling prey to scams: Technological and behavioural.įirst, we could start with getting rid of Short Message Service (SMS) messages and One Time Passwords (OTP). Third, loss allocation: In situations where no one is at fault, besides the scammers, who should bear the loss? Second, accountability: Who should be held accountable when a scam occurs and how can victims vindicate their rights? There are three separate questions we need to ask in order to move forward.įirst, prevention: What can be done to prevent people from falling victim to such scams and who should be doing it? Last month, OCBC said it would voluntarily reimburse all the scam victims. There have been calls for the Government to intervene in various forms. Others blame the victims for being gullible and not taking proper care. Some people blame the bank and are all too willing to call for full compensation to be made to the victims. There has been much commentary in the wake of a series of sophisticated scams that tricked 790 OCBC customers out of more than S$13 million. ![]() |
